Museums are condensed representations of a city's historical development, serving as its calling card and essential cultural institutions for people to perceive history, understand the present, and explore the future.
On May 18, International Museum Day will be celebrated worldwide under the theme "The Power of Museums".
In recent years, Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, has placed significant emphasis on the development of its museum industry. It has set the urban development goal of creating a city of museums. It has already introduced supporting policies, increased financial support, and propelled the high-quality development of its museums.
Currently, Xi'an boasts a total of 159 museums of various levels and types, including 38 State-owned museums, 50 industry-specific museums, and 71 privately-owned museums, forming a diverse and multi-faceted modern museum system.
This year, the Xi'an bureau of cultural relics will organize a series of distinctive activities, exhibitions, public interactions, and cultural heritage promotions around the theme of International Museum Day.
More than 60 activities will be held, aiming to integrate museums into modern life and draw greater public engagement in museum activities.
