A wine gift set launch event celebrating the 60th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic relations was held in Paris on May 3, with 60 guests from cultural, tourism, food, and environmental sectors of both countries in attendance.
Curated by Fabrice Sommier, president of the Union de la Sommellerie Française, the gift set features Longyu Cabernet Sauvignon from Changyu and a 2018 vintage red wine from Bordeaux's Chateau Phelan Segur.
"When these two wines meet, the silky tannins of Yantai wine blend perfectly with the intense flavors of Bordeaux wine, creating a unique combination that brings a balance of tradition and modernity," he said.
The gift set is now available for sale in China, with all proceeds donated to the environmental organization EcoTree to support global green and low-carbon initiatives.
In 1892, Changyu, China's first winemaking company, was established in Yantai. A century later, Yantai was honored as the only "International Grape and Wine City" in Asia by the International Vine and Wine Organization. Wine has become an internationally-recognized symbol of Yantai, as highlighted by Gong Haitao, deputy director in charge of daily work at the Publicity Department of the CPC Yantai Municipal Committee.
