A delegation from North China's Shanxi province visited Morocco, Spain, and Iceland from April 22 to May 1.
The visit were intended to deepen economic and trade cooperation, cultural exchanges, and regional interactions between Shanxi and the countries through official meetings, industry matchmaking, and project negotiations, contributing to the high-level development of bilateral relations between China and each of the countries.
During the visit to Morocco, Jin Xiangjun, governor of Shanxi Provincial Government, pointed out that exchanges between Shanxi and Morocco are becoming increasingly frequent. He expressed willingness to further deepen cooperation with Morocco in various fields such as fisheries, manufacturing, renewable energy, and green and low-carbon development.
On April 24, the China (Shanxi)-Spain (Madrid) Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference was held, during which government and business representatives from both sides were engaged in in-depth discussions on the coordinated development of industries such as culture and tourism, energy, manufacturing, and food.
In Spain, Jin also met with the president of the Castilla-La Mancha autonomous community, reaching a consensus on enhancing cooperation in economy and trade, energy, and culture and tourism, as well as boosting local friendly exchanges. They decided to further deepen cooperation and exchanges between entrepreneurs from the two regions and signed a memorandum of understanding on developing friendly relations between the two sides.
Shanxi's delegation also held cultural and tourism promotion events in Morocco and Spain, with more than 200 participants from the political, cultural, tourism, and business sectors of both countries in attendance.
During the visit to Iceland, Jin stated that Shanxi boasts abundant geothermal resources and is willing to further strengthen cooperation with Iceland in areas such as energy green transformation, geothermal resource development and utilization, and clean energy technology innovation, thereby contributing to joint efforts in addressing climate change and advancing global ecological civilization.
