During the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, various commercial and trade enterprises in North China's Shanxi province carried out a variety of promotional activities, effectively stimulating people's enthusiasm for consumption.

According to data from 137 enterprises, a total sales revenue of 428 million yuan ($59.29 million) was achieved within five days.

Riding on the wave of the peak sales period during this holiday, the commerce regulatory authorities and key commercial and trade enterprises across the province put forward various measures, such as subsidies for automobiles, household appliances, furniture, home textiles, and home decoration. These efforts met the diverse needs of residents and effectively drove the growth of holiday consumption.

Specifically, events such as automobile expos, car sales exhibitions, and motorcycle festivals were organized to boost vehicle consumption in cities including Datong and Linfen. Data indicated that during the holiday, the province saw a year-on-year increase of 11.6 percent and 2.1 percent respectively in automobile and household appliance sales.

At the same time, all cities and relevant enterprises across the province actively created consumption scenarios and optimized their consumption environments. Taiyuan, for example, focused on developing its concert economy. Special bus routes were launched for concert transportation, and free rides on all bus routes, and free visits to related tourist attractions were offered to those with concert tickets.

Furthermore, activities showcasing rural cuisine were also organized across the province based on local customs and cultural resources. Various hotels and restaurants launched group-buying packages, specialty dishes, recharge discounts, and other promotional activities to attract customers.
