In recent years, North China's Shanxi province has been working to building up a new development system for special industries in out-of-poverty areas by fostering leading enterprises in the field of agricultural industrialization and establishing characteristic professional towns and rural e-commerce towns.
In 2023, Shanxi cultivated 46 provincial-level agricultural industrialization alliances, 162 provincial-level leading enterprises, 100 provincial-level farmer demonstration cooperatives, and 200 provincial-level demonstration family farms. The number of agricultural business entities in out-of-poverty areas reached 56,000 in total, integrating 973,900 individuals into the industrial chain and value chain.
To accelerate the development of leading enterprises, the province has allocated 56.59 million yuan ($7.84 million) to provide subsidies for fixed asset investment projects and high-quality talents. Furthermore, interest subsidies have been granted for enterprise loans and the scope of agricultural and rural collateral has been expanded.
At the same time, Shanxi has been fully committed to advancing the construction of seven provincial-level characteristic professional towns concerning agriculture sector and 38 city-level ones, aiming to provide more employment opportunities to local people.
Up to now, the total investment in rural e-commerce towns across the province has reached 32.61 billion yuan, yielding a total output value of 44.62 billion yuan and online retail sales of 7.23 billion yuan. Furthermore, the market entities in rural e-commerce towns across the province has reached 9,526 in number, with 284 leading e-commerce enterprises introduced and 730 internet celebrities cultivated, totally creating 12,187 jobs for local people.
