John, an American teacher at Xi'an International Studies University, has spent nearly 30 years working and living in Xi'an, first having arrived in the city in 1995.
Throughout his time in the city, John has had many worthwhile experiences. "Xi'an is my favorite city in China, and I have spent a significant portion of my life here," he said.
In 1995, John arrived in Xi'an, where he taught English to graduate students at Xi'an Jiaotong University. In 1997, he resigned and returned to the United States, but he never forgot about the city. In 2003, he learned that Xi'an International Studies University was recruiting English foreign teachers. He submitted his application and returned to Xi'an to work and live once again.
John has since become a Xi'an expert, witnessing the rapid development and changes in the city.
Upon the recommendation of his students, he has traveled to every corner of the city, becoming intimately familiar with this mysterious ancient city.
John's Chinese students are also his friends. Over the years, he has taught thousands of students, many of whom still keep in touch with him to this day.
Watching the young people he once taught graduate, work, and start families, striving in various cities across China, John is filled with emotion.
"The most unforgettable time of my life was spent in Xi'an. It holds so many beautiful memories, and no matter where I go, it will always stay in my heart!"
