FAW Jiefang and International oil and gas corporation Shell launched a joint research center on April 28 – along with the start of road testing of their Starship China concept truck – in Changchun, capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province.
Late last year Shell and FAW Jiefang unveiled Starship China, their new concept truck which aims to meet the growing demand for logistics in the country, while being super green and efficient.
With its cutting-edge technologies and aerodynamically optimized design, the highly intelligent truck is said to have high fuel economy and low carbon and environmental protection – and to comprehensively take into account China's roads.
Li Sheng, general manager of FAW Jiefang, stated that this collaboration marked a significant milestone in the partnership – signifying FAW Jiefang's commitment to its new energy strategy and green development.
The Starship concept truck's road testing and the research center's unveiling is said to showcase a joint effort to advance technology and create environmentally friendly products, fostering industry innovation and talent development.
Shell's OEM General Manager Yin Jie emphasized the road transport industry's challenges in terms of carbon emissions and the importance of industry transformation under China's dual carbon goals and new quality production capacity concept.
Yin added that with Shell's extensive experience and innovative research, the partners aimed to drive industry progress emphatically forwards.
