Cui Yonghui, secretary of the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee in Southeast China’s Fujian province, led a delegation to Brazil, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia from April 14 to 23.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cultural exchanges with the three countries at the sub-national level, deepen practical cooperation within the BRICS framework, specifically in investment and trade, and showcase Xiamen’s high-level opening-up to the world.
During the visit, the delegation interacted with relevant parties, visited multinational companies, met with diplomatic missions in the three countries, and carried out activities to attract new projects, leading to a series of cooperation agreements.
Cui emphasized that Xiamen is a leader in China's reform and opening-up. He expressed the city's desire to strengthen cooperation with countries from around the world, share in the new opportunities for development and open a new chapter of mutually beneficial outcomes.
While in Brazil, Cui expressed hope that both sides would expand exchanges and cooperation by jointly building an innovative base for BRICS cooperation to inject new vitality into the partnership.
During the visit to the UAE, Cui said that both sides should further strengthen cooperation in areas such as the development of a free trade zone, industrial investment and cultural exchanges, helping enrich the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
In Indonesia, Cui said he hoped that the overseas Chinese community would continue to support the development of Xiamen and convince more businesses to invest and develop in the city.
