As Remarkable as Rainy Landscapes, an ongoing exhibition at the Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy, through May 5, pays tribute to Li in his such efforts to rejuvenate the ink tradition.
In the 1950s, Li and other painters set out from Beijing, and traveled southward, westward and eastward, on several tours, into the landscapes of great variety. He sketched and painted on the site. His works show the unique beauty, magnificence and poetic depth, attested to the audience from different social backgrounds, meanwhile enriching the methods of ink strokes to present the physical world.
