After eight hours, the steel structure roof of Hangar One at the Xiamen Taikoo Xiang'an Airport Maintenance Base, measuring 525.1 meters in length, 73.85 meters in width, and weighing 11,393 metric tons, was successfully lifted 27 meters on April 24.
Hangar One of the Xiamen Taikoo Xiang'an Airport Maintenance Base is the world's largest single-unit civil aviation aircraft maintenance hangar, with the largest span.
The engineering of the steel structure is expected to be completed in July this year, followed by comprehensive mechanical and electrical installation, decoration, and construction of the enclosure structure. It is expected to be completed in November 2025.
Hangar One and Hangar Two are the core components of the project, with a total steel usage of nearly 30,000 metric tons. The steel roof of Hangar One will be the largest single object to be lifted as part of the project. It has a projected area of approximately 38,800 square meters, equivalent to 93 standard basketball courts. Its weight is equal to about 7,600 family cars. The maximum span of the hangar door truss is 269.5 meters, making it the world's largest.
