Haileybury Tianjin thrives with Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei development strategies

Haileybury Tianjin, having a partnership with the esteemed 130-year-old Haileybury School from Australia, has capitalized on the strengths of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategies, said its top executive.

Established in 2013 through a partnership with Beijing Capital Land, the school is situated in Tianjin's Wuqing district, a pivotal location within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Since opening, Haileybury Tianjin has attracted students from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province.

Andrew McAree, executive principal of Haileybury Tianjin, said: "Our institution has borne witness to the remarkable transformations brought about by the government's strategies initiated since 2013."

McAree emphasized the impact of an increasingly efficient transportation network, stating, "The 'big spatial circle' of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has notably reduced travel times, which are the result of infrastructure developments including the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway and intercity public transportation. These advancements have significantly bolstered the recruitment of skilled professionals and the growth of various enterprises in the region."

He further highlighted the influx of talented and high-tech companies from Beijing and Hebei into Tianjin, particularly Wuqing, which fosters the region's convergence of education and technology.

Notably, the past decade has witnessed the establishment of over 200 international schools in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

As coordination and integration prevail, various international schools have established Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei international education hubs. Haileybury is positioned in the Tongzhou-Wuqing-Langfang Corridor, a core area within the region.

Leveraging policies on talent acquisition and the integrative development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Haileybury Tianjin has attracted a cadre of high-quality Chinese and international educators, significantly enhancing the school's educational standards.

The region's frequent talent exchanges have led to heightened demand for schooling among the children of these skilled professionals, further driving the school's growth. In 2013, the school had only four staff members and 17 students, figures that have since grown to 200 staff members and 800 students, respectively.

McAree emphasized the collaborative spirit, noting, "Every year, numerous education delegations from schools across Beijing, Hebei, and China at large visit our campus, engaging in exchanges and visits covering various areas such as teaching resources, curriculum development, student activities and more. It is through mutual learning and collaborative development that we are forging a shared future."

Having made his first business trip to China in 1998 and having since traveled to China 28 times, McAree expressed his deep admiration for the culture and history of Tianjin and China.

He also acknowledged the invaluable support and care provided by government officials and leaders at all levels in the Wuqing district and Tianjin.
