News from the economic operation bureau of Liangjiang New Area on April 20 suggested that over the first quarter of this year, Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality completed 4.19 billion yuan ($590.79 million) in major project investment, accounting for 28.7 percent of its annual goal.
There are in total 50 projects invested in the new area that have been selected as major municipal projects, involving industrial development, sci-tech innovation, city functions, social welfare, and culture and tourism.
The Belt and Road International Technology Exchange Center project is now being constructed by more than 150 workers. So far, the steel structures of all four exhibition halls on the first floor have been completed, and the above-ground civil structure is scheduled to be fully capped by the end of May.
With a total construction area of approximately 87,000 square meters, the center is expected to hold conferences and exhibitions, and offer supporting office spaces once put into use.
