As of the end of March, Baotou has created 10,900 new jobs in its urban areas. It also saw 5,165 individuals re-employed, and 1,907 previously unemployed individuals successfully finding employment.
In the first quarter, Baotou actively implemented the employment priority policy, focusing on stabilizing job positions, expanding employment channels, enhancing technical skills, and optimizing employment services to ensure the employment of key groups.
"I don't need to go to the public employment service hall. I can apply for unemployment benefits through the 'Electronic Social Security Card' applet on my WeChat account. With policy support, I can confidently search for my next job," said Mr Zhang, a resident in Baotou. In the first quarter, Baotou provided unemployment insurance benefits totaling 23.08 million yuan ($3.19 million) to 4,745 individuals.
In the same period, officials from Baotou visited cities such as Taiyuan, Linfen, Lanzhou, and Yinchuan for labor cooperation, establishing several human resources service stations in Lanzhou and Yinchuan. By the end of March, Baotou had organized a total of 153 recruitment events, offering 27,000 job vacancies.
Furthermore, Baotou helped enhance the employment skills of jobseekers. The city has conducted 127 employment and entrepreneurship training courses and provided subsidized vocational skills training to 7,912 individuals.
