The launch ceremony for the 30th-anniversary celebration of the sister city relationship between Yantai, China, and Kunsan, South Korea, along with the unveiling of a media alliance exchange center, took place in Kunsan on April 15. Representatives from media, businesses, and travel agencies from both cities gathered to discuss and collaborate on future development.
Since the establishment of their sister city relationship in 1994, Yantai and Kunsan have maintained close exchanges. This year marks the 30th anniversary of their friendship, and the two cities plan to organize a series of diverse celebratory activities to promote exchanges and cooperation in the fields of trade, culture, art, and education.
During the event, the Yantai-Kunsan Sister City Media Alliance Exchange Center was unveiled. This center will serve as an official communication channel between the two cities and a media resource sharing platform for journalists from both cities, according to Shin Won-sik, vice mayor of Kunsan.
Yantai plans to leverage the Sister City Media Alliance Exchange Center to host a series of promotional activities, inviting media, business, and travel agency representatives from Kunsan to visit Yantai. These activities will include dialogues, art exhibitions, youth sports matches, and online meetings, establishing a continuous and normalized mechanism for year-round online and in-person exchanges.
