The rehousing construction project for the old Linnan residential area in Baotou city officially commenced on April 15. This marks a significant event for the city in further improving urban functions and enhancing people's livelihoods.

Originally built in the 1970s and 1980s, the old Linnan residential area has a high construction density and outdated water and electricity infrastructure, which no longer meets the basic living needs of residents. Over the years, local residents have expressed a strong desire for renovation.

The old Linnan residential area covers a total area of 226 mu (15.07 hectares), with 658 households. The project started relocation and resettlement work on March 15, and construction began on April 15. Upon completion, local residents will move into their new homes.

Wang Fenghua, a 71-year-old resident, and her neighbors attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the project. Wang said, "We are reassured about the project construction. We will move back to new buildings at the original site, surrounded by our original neighbors, making life very pleasant."

It is understood that the area will also promote the construction of supporting facilities such as high-speed railway stations, bus stations, and parks, thus optimizing and upgrading the overall appearance of the surrounding area.
