In November 2023, a new energy vehicle automated production line was installed by the Jinan-based Jier Machine-tool Group Co at the NEV manufacturing plant being operated by car maker Geely Auto - in Ningbo, Zhejiang province.
The installation of the integrated NEV die-casting machine tool processing and assembly production line marked the latest domestically developed one supplied by Jinan Machine Tool Group – based in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province.
The production line began operating in November, with its performance reaching internationally advanced levels.
A single production line has an annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles, generating revenue of 5-7 billion yuan ($968 million) in the casting and assembly sector.
In recent years, Jier Machine-tool Group has moved into the NEV market, focusing on research into integrated die-cast chassis components for the vehicles.
This has included research on the precision and dynamic characteristics of machining center assemblies, performance optimization and debugging technology.
Through industrial applications, the group is understood to have made upgrades and achieved a series of technological breakthroughs in the high-speed and high-efficiency processing and fastener assembly production lines for the integrated die-cast components of NEVs.
At present, the integrated die-casting technology for NEVs has entered a new phase in the development of automotive manufacturing.
The manufacturing of the overall vehicle body and chassis is said to be moving towards highly integrated directions – and the expanded application of integrated die-casting as a core technology is believed to be the foundation for achieving this integration.
The breakthrough by the Jinan group is seen as marking a significant step in reducing dependency on imports and establishing a robust domestic production infrastructure for NEVs – ultimately contributing to the growth and advancement of the automotive industry in China.
