Jinan sets goals for education sector this year

This year, Jinan will construct 50 city-level "scholarly campuses", an honor for middle and primary school, and open 104 school sports facilities to the public, according to a news conference held in the city on April 10.

Jinan will continue to increase high-quality resources, accelerate the construction of a high-quality and balanced basic public education service system, take actions to ensure universal access to preschool education, strengthen the foundation of basic education, enhance the quality of schools, deepen the institutionalization of group-based schooling, and build high-quality school clusters.

It will also deepen cooperation between schools and enterprises, optimize the establishment of 20 industry-school integration communities, lead the establishment of a provincial capital economic circle industry-education alliance, support vocational colleges, applied undergraduate colleges, and industry enterprises in jointly establishing industrial colleges, and promote a balanced relationship between the educational chain, talent chain, industrial chain, and innovation chain.

Jinan will recognize five additional schools as having an international education environment, launch the first pilot project for a Chinese international school, conduct traditional cultural experience camps for students from other countries as well as from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and enhance the internationalization of education in Jinan.

Furthermore, Jinan will continue to develop its so-called "future" education model by promoting comprehensive reforms and strengthening the teaching profession. It will also improve evaluation mechanisms involving multiple stakeholders such as government, schools, families, and society, and foster a healthy educational ecosystem.

The city will also establish a digital education research center and a smart education resource center in order to create an engine for smart education, select four schools as experimental bases for the integrated development of digital and practical education, and build new models of digital future schools.
