The 2024 Shanghai Auto Culture Festival will be held in Jiading district from April 19 to May 31, celebrating the return of the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix as well as the 20th anniversary of its landing in Shanghai.
The Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix, which has been absent in Shanghai for four years, will be held at the Shanghai International Circuit from April 19 to 21.
Co-hosted by Shanghai's culture and tourism administration, Jiading District People's Government, Shanghai Juss Sports and Shanghai Tongji University, the auto culture festival aims to promote the integration of culture, sports and tourism.
Launched as the "F1 • JIA" (F1+Jiading) concept for the first time, the festival will host around 20 activities focusing on auto events, auto culture and tourism, and auto exhibitions. The festival is expected to attract over 200,000 visitors.
According to Tang Dongying, deputy district chief of Jiading district, a series of themed activities featuring racing and track carnivals will be launched at the Shanghai International Circuit, and activities such as an old street vintage car boot fair, antique car rides and a car cinema will also be held during the festival.
In addition, nine popular scenic spots in Jiading, including Nanxiang Ancient Town, Guyi Garden, Qiuxia Garden and Shanghai Auto Museum, will be open for free to visitors with electronic tickets or work permits for the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix.
"Our exhibition area for this year's festival is twice the size of previous years. In addition, it is also our first time trying to combine racing culture and music," said Yang Yibin, general manager of Juss Sport.
"Based on the young and energetic nature of our racing fans, we introduce a music carnival to the festival and also linked together the activities that young people love. I hope to provide our audience with a better on-site viewing experience and a great platform for our consumers," Yang added.
