According to the Guizhou survey team of the National Bureau of Statistics, due to the increased consumer demand during the Spring Festival, the consumer price index (CPI) for residents in Guiyang rose by 0.8 percent month-on-month in February this year, an increase of 0.6 percentage points from the previous month; on a year-on-year basis, it increased by 0.7 percent, representing a 1.4-percentage-point increase from the previous month.

Compared with February last year, prices for clothing rose by 5.6 percent, housing by 0.3 percent, daily necessities and services by 0.2 percent, transportation and communication by 0.7 percent, education, culture, and entertainment by 1.8 percent, healthcare by 0.5 percent, while food and tobacco prices decreased by 0.8 percent.

The month-on-month CPI increase in Guiyang in February was lower than the national average, ranking 29th out of 36 large and medium-sized cities in the country, lower than neighboring cities such as Kunming, Nanning, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Changsha. On a year-on-year basis, Guiyang's CPI increase in February was consistent with the national average, ranking 24th out of 36 large and medium-sized cities in the country, 0.4 percentage points higher than the provincial average.

Statistical analysis indicates that one of the reasons for the year-on-year decrease in food prices in Guiyang in February was the sufficient and stable supply of pork, chicken, and eggs in the market.
