The Zhoushan Art Museum in Putuo district, Zhoushan, Zhejiang province will open to the public following the completion of supporting facilities, as reported by local media on March 26.
Designed by Wang Shu, the recipient of the 2012 Pritzker Architecture Prize, the 11,209-square-meter venue features five exhibition halls, comprising three art exhibition halls, a characteristic art exhibition hall showcasing Zhoushan features, and a science and technology interactive exhibition hall.
The facility also boasts various functional rooms, including a screening room, lecture hall, artist studios, youth creative training room, VIP room, conference room, offices, and storage facilities.
The museum is also planning to incorporate some commercial elements, including a light food restaurant, bookstore, café, cultural and creative store, and an art bar to provide better experience to visitors.
