The X387 multi-modal train departed from Xi'an Guogang Railway Station in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on March 26, embarking on a journey to Sanping Railway Station in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

The train is loaded with 30 containers of goods from express delivery and e-commerce companies such as SF Express and JD.

This marked the first operation of the multi-modal express freight train (Xi'an to Urumqi) for express delivery and e-commerce cargo launched by China Railway Xi'an Group Co. The initiative is meant to reduce social logistics costs and open up a new channel for the transportation of domestic express delivery and e-commerce goods.

The train departs from Xi'an Guogang Railway Station at 9:09 am every day and arrives at Sanping Railway Station in Urumqi approximately 38 hours later, reducing transportation time by around five hours compared with road transport and increasing transportation efficiency by 12 percent.

Furthermore, the train adopts a direct unloading-to-truck method, allowing the distribution of goods to commence on the day the train arrives so that express delivery personnel can deliver the goods to customers the following day.

Additionally, the train is the first to utilize the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, providing customers with real-time tracking of cargo transport trajectories.
