The Art Hong Kong Expo will be held at the city's AsiaWorld-Expo from May 16 to 19, focusing on technology, digitization and culture and tourism, according to a news release in Beijing on Thursday.
With the theme Digital Cultural Creativity, this year's expo will feature five sections — digital creativity, fashion and design, culture and tourism trades, intangible heritages and crafts, and international artworks. A series of related activities such as discussions, exhibitions, calligraphy competitions and promotions of cities' tourism will also be held at the expo, said Pi Qubing, executive chair of the Art Hong Kong Expo.
The expo was held for the first time in May last year. It attracted more than 300 exhibitors and over 30,000 visitors from across the world, according to Liang Tianfu, the committee chair of the expo.
This year, the size of the exhibition space has been largely expanded and the contents are richer than those of last year to make Hong Kong a cultural hub to connect China with the international world. Preparation work for the expo is close to finishing. It's expected to not only help introduce Chinese cultural products, artists and companies to the world but also attract foreign artists to come to China for a further communication.
The expo is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and other related cultural institutions in Hong Kong, Shenzhen in Guangdong province and Beijing.
