The Harbin Ice and Snow World Park Co made the most recent list of national cultural industry demonstration bases, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on March 26.
The company, established in November 2013, includes the Ice and Snow World during winter and the Harbin International Beer Festival during summer. This year, the company will focus on promoting year-round ice and snow attractions, with hopes of creating attractions for spring, summer, and autumn which are on par with the Ice and Snow World for winter, thereby contributing to the successful hosting of the 9th Asian Winter Games.
Located in the western part of the Sun Island National Scenic Area, Harbin Ice and Snow World is a large-scale ice and snow art park showcasing Harbin's unique ice and snow resources. It was launched by the Harbin municipal government in 1999 to welcome the new millennium. It has been successfully hosted 25 times and received nearly 30 million visits in total.
Every year, nearly 10,000 workers use over 250,000 cubic meters of ice and snow to create hundreds of ice and snow landscapes over a period of about 15 days. The Harbin Ice and Snow World Park has become the world's largest ice and snow theme park, an internationally-renowned ice and snow tourism destination and China's most popular winter tourist attraction, making it a symbol of Harbin.
In 2017, Harbin Ice and Snow World appeared as one of the venues for the Spring Festival Gala, and in 2022, it served as a prelude venue for the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Since 2023, the company has received over 10 national and provincial honors. Additionally, the 25th Ice and Snow World successfully broke the Guinness World Record and was awarded the title of "World's Largest Ice and Snow Theme Park."
