Shanghai Metro has recently added seven customer service centers at the Hongqiao and Pudong international airports that allow the use of foreign bank cards to purchase tickets for rides on the city's metro lines and the Maglev line that connects the Pudong International Airport with the downtown Longyang Road Station.
The service centers are located at the Line 2 Pudong International Airport Station, Line 2 Hongqiao Terminal 2 Station, Line 10 Hongqiao Terminal 2 Station, and Line 10 Hongqiao Terminal 1 Station.
These stations have added foreign card POS machines, allowing foreign passengers arriving in Shanghai to purchase metro tickets with overseas or UnionPay cards, without needing to exchange currency at the automatic ticket machines or pre-purchase a Shanghai Public Transportation Card.
The service centers, which began operations on March 5, have prominent signs showing accepted cards – Visa, Mastercard, Discover Card, American Express, Diners Club, JCB, and China UnionPay.
The service centers offer a variety of ticket options, such as single journey, one-day, three-day, and metro-maglev combined tickets.
