As AirAsia flight FD790 arrived at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport on March 9, a tour group of 175 tourists from Thailand embarked on their journey across Southwest China's Guizhou province, marking the first Thai tour group to visit Guizhou this year.
During the five-day journey, the tour group visited Guiyang, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture, and Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture to experience Guizhou's unique karst landscapes and rich ethnic customs.
Since Thailand implemented its visa-free policy for Chinese tourists on Sept 25, 2023, Thailand has become a popular travel destination for Guizhou residents.
"After the mutual visa exemption between China and Thailand took effect, the number of Thai tour groups visiting China has significantly increased. We are very interested in Guizhou's ethnic culture, coupled with its magnificent natural scenery. We believe that Guizhou is a travel destination with great tourism potential. Next, we will enhance the promotion of Guizhou's natural scenery in Thailand," said Khanyanutt Thepchai, leader of the tour group.
With the growing demand for international travel, Guizhou has increased the number of direct flights from Guiyang to Phuket Island and Bangkok to three flights per week.
