China's population is rapidly aging. Data shows that the total population of Jinpu New Area is 1.61 million, with nearly 300,000 people aged over 60, accounting for 18.63 percent. The population aged over 80 is nearly 45,600, accounting for 2.83 percent of the area's total population.
To promote the high-quality development of elderly care services, Jinpu New Area has invested 840 million yuan ($116.68 million) to build the "1+11+42" integrated elderly care project. "1" refers to the Yijinghui Health and Care Center, covering an area of 45,000 square meters, capable of accommodating 1,351 beds; "11" refers to 11 public senior care facilities, including two social welfare institutions and nine nursing homes at township and community levels; "42" refers to 42 community and home-based elderly care service centers, creating a 15-minute home and community elderly care service circle to improve the inclusiveness and equality of community elderly care services.
Focusing on the integrated development of home-based, community-level and institutional senior care facilities, Jinpu New Area strives to build a comprehensive elderly care project combining elderly care, medical treatment, rehabilitation and nursing. Jinpu New Area is continuously improving the supply capabilities of elderly care services, and refining the construction of its elderly care service system.
