The 35th Chongqing Automobile Industry Annual Meeting was recently held in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, bringing together well-known enterprises in the automobile industrial chain, universities, and research institutions such as Changan Auto, SAIC Motor, Chongqing University, and the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute.
This gathering was organized in support of Chongqing building a 1-trillion-yuan ($139.3 billion) intelligent connected new energy vehicle industrial cluster.
The automotive industrial chain is long and extensive, posing significant challenges to its security and stability. In order to solve this, a new green industrial chain and supply chain are being established.
The annual meeting initiated the establishment of the "Intelligent Electric Vehicle Industrial Chain Innovation Cooperation Alliance", which includes 17 founding members.
Experts and scholars at the meeting generally believe that to promote the high-quality development of the automotive industry, the new breakthroughs lay in accelerating cross-field integration. This includes the integration of advanced manufacturing with modern services, as well as promoting the aggregation of industrial chains and talent chains.
In 2023, the Chengdu-Chongqing region collectively produced 3.29 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 3.9 percent, accounting for 10.9 percent of the total national automobile production.
