In 2023, North China's Shanxi province improved its consumer protection system, enhanced its consumer rights protection services, and created a safe, reliable, and comfortable consumption environment.
The province implemented various institutional measures to establish a mechanism for co-creating a consumer-friendly environment. It has conducted activities in 12 key industry sectors closely related to daily life, creating a secure and trustworthy consumer environment.
Efforts have been made to continuously improve the province's consumer rights protection mechanism, with a focus on promptly resolving consumer disputes. There is an active promotion of online dispute resolution (ODR) for consumer disputes, with a 1.7-fold increase in the total number of ODR enterprises developed in the province compared to 2022.
Furthermore, offline consumer rights protection channels have been streamlined, with the construction of consumer rights protection service stations increasing by 1.5 times. Throughout 2023, about 56,200 consumer disputes were mediated, resulting in the recovery of over 12 million yuan ($1.67 million) in economic losses for consumers.
