South Korean pilot embarks on successful career in Xi'an

In 2017, Liu Yang Wuk, a pilot from South Korea, moved to Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, in order to join Chang'an Airlines, becoming one of its first foreign pilots.

Working in Xi'an was not originally part of Liu's life plan, however, he learned that Chang'an Airlines was recruiting pilots in South Korea in 2016 and decided to apply.

With his excellent piloting skills and a sound physical and mental condition, Liu successfully navigated through the airline's rigorous assessments, which included simulator tests, written exams, and medical checkups.

"At that time, I only knew that Xi'an was a city with a rich history and the Terracotta Warriors. This understanding was too simplistic," stated Liu, as he reminisced about his arrival in Xi'an several years ago. The longer Liu lived and worked in Xi'an, the more he discovered about the city.

"When I first arrived in Xi'an, I lived in the Xi'an High-Tech Industries Development Zone, where I met many fellow expatriate friends who, like me, came to work in Xi'an. There were numerous South Korean restaurants nearby, allowing us to easily enjoy authentic hometown cuisine," Liu stated.

Beyond South Korean cuisine, Liu has also become a fan of Xi'an's local delicacies.

Despite his worldly travels, Liu keenly feels the vibrant energy of Xi'an and the boundless opportunities in China.

He often shares these genuine experiences and feelings with people from his hometown, and as a result, Chang'an Airlines later recruited two more South Korean pilots.
