To foster Sino-American friendship, teachers and students from Zibo No 1 Middle School embarked on a visit to a Confucius classroom in Connecticut, the United States, from Feb 25 to March 5. Nine participants delved into a vibrant cultural exchange at Brien McMahon High School.
The visit was more than just a cultural exchange; it was a deep dive into mutual understanding. Brien McMahon High School warmly embraced the visitors, dedicating an eight-day program labeled as the "Year of the Dragon Chinese Culture Week" to the visit. Adjusting schedules, the school offered courses ranging from Chinese language and history to calligraphy, enriching the students' experience.
Beyond the classroom, students were immersed in American family life during their stay, enhancing their cross-cultural understanding. A highlight of the visit was the potluck party, where students from both nations shared food, showcased talents, and solidified friendships.
Exploring beyond the school's walls, the group toured iconic American cities, including New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., gaining insights into the nation's history and contemporary landscape.
Looking forward, Zibo No 1 Middle School pledged support for CGS Chinese language teaching and initiated student exchange programs, facilitating reciprocal learning opportunities for Chinese and American students.
This visit not only bridged geographical gaps but also fostered lasting connections, epitomizing the spirit of international friendship and cultural exchange.
