Shanghai Hongqiao's exhibition economy springs to life

This spring, the Hongqiao International Central Business District (Hongqiao International CBD) is poised to invigorate its exhibition economy through the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai.

In 2023, the NECC notably expanded its exhibition space to over 7 million square meters, dedicating a substantial portion to international events and attracting more than 12 million visitors. This upward trend is anticipated to continue into 2024, heralded by a robust lineup of events beginning in March.

The season's inaugural exhibitions - APPPEXPO, CHN MACH EXPO, and the 2024 China Food Ingredients Exhibition - collectively spanned nearly 270,000 sq m in space, uniting more than 4,500 exhibitors from a variety of industries, including those from the advertising, printing, machine tools, and food sectors.

On March 6, the NECC welcomed the spring joint exhibition of textiles, spotlighting international trade, cutting-edge industry technologies, and sustainable development.

Prominent professional exhibitions, such as Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics - Spring Edition, CHIC 2024 (Spring), Yarn Expo 2024, and PH Value (Spring Edition), made a joint appearance at the event.

Covering 380,000 sq m, these exhibitions brought together over 5,000 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, facilitating unparalleled networking and interaction.

The agenda was packed with trend releases, forums, industry exchanges, and trade matchmaking activities. All of which were designed to bolster confidence and energize the industry, thus demonstrating collaborative innovation within the industry chain.

The expos have been keen to spotlight innovation, introducing specialized spaces like Sustainable Innovation, New Technology Innovation Space, and Digital Fashion Innovation Space. These spaces highlight cutting-edge developments in environmental technology, fashion design, and digital transformation.
