During the collection of monitoring data on March 5, professional technicians from the management office of the Guiyang Aha Lake National Wetland Park found an image of a Lophura nycthemera (silver pheasant), which is a level-two nationally protected wild animal.
The Aha Lake National Wetland Park is located in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The silver pheasant is a resident bird in Guizhou province, inhabiting mountainous forests at altitudes ranging from 300 meters to 2,000 meters. Resident bird refers to birds that do not migrate periodically.
To continuously monitor the avian and mammal diversity dynamics of the wetland park, professional technicians have installed more than 30 infrared cameras throughout the area, obtaining a large number of wildlife images and data. This method has supplemented the shortcomings of manual monitoring methods, as it provides basic data for regional biodiversity conservation efforts.
This specific sighting expands the team's understanding of avian fauna, while also providing basic data for the study of their distribution patterns in the park. As of now, 230 bird species have been recorded within the scope of the Aha Lake National Wetland Park.
