A concert organized by the Meicun Erhu Industry Association took place in Meicun sub-district, Xinwu district, Wuxi on March 2.
The event commenced with a grand performance of Overture to Ceremony written by renowned composer Zhao Jiping. This lively piece, featuring fast tempo and various traditional instruments, painted a magnificent picture of festive celebration.

The concert continued with a dazzling array of performances, including a solo performance on the guzheng (21-stringed Chinese zither), Peking Opera, Xiju Opera, and Yueju Opera. An erhu (a two-stringed bowed instrument) piece featuring striking unison among players was also presented by the Meijing Orchestra, a professional folk music ensemble native to Meicun. Comprising graduates from prestigious music academies across China, the ensemble specializes in creative interpretations of traditional folk and pop music.

Notably, renowned erhu player Deng Jiandong premiered a brand-new piece, Beautiful Meicun, which was custom-tailored for the historically rich and culturally abundant region.
The concert cleverly blended tradition with modernity, showcasing innovation and experimentation in folk music. Catering to audience preferences, it injected new vitality into traditional folk music, rendering it not only more vibrant but also more engaging.
