In 2024, Hohhot plans to revamp 229 aging residential communities, covering a total area of 3.83 million square meters. These plans involve 44,810 households and have an estimated investment of around 1.69 billion yuan ($235 million).
The focus of this year's renovation initiative lies in targeting areas with poor environmental conditions and aging infrastructure. The renovation prioritizes the practical needs of local residents, encompassing the overhaul of underground heating, drainage systems, facade enhancements, and the maintenance and upgrading of electrical systems.
Presently, the bidding process for the renovation of old residential communities in the city's new urban district is underway. Bidding is scheduled to be completed in early April, with construction set to commence from April 10. All projects are expected to be underway by April 20.
This year's renovation efforts in Hohhot not only concentrate on fundamental infrastructure improvements, but also aim to integrate community-based service facilities into the urban landscape. The plan includes embedding functional facilities and adaptive services within public spaces of the old residential communities. This includes elderly care, community dining assistance, household services, healthcare, sports and fitness, cultural and leisure activities, as well as children's recreational services.
These endeavors are designed to enhance the living environment for local residents, while also providing convenient home-based services for aging communities.
