More than 50 female students from 11 countries gathered on Tuesday at the library of Shanxi Medical University in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, to celebrate International Women's Day, which falls on Friday.

During the activity, the women experienced Chinese intangible cultural heritage up close through such things as paper-cutting and making cloth tigers and sachets – all of which are representative of traditional Chinese culture.

The experience aimed to bring the unique charm of Shanxi's traditional culture to overseas students and give them a deeper understanding of local customs and practices to enhance friendship between women.
