This year, Baotou city plans to enhance its management of more than 2.6 million mu (173,333 hectares) of forest and grassland.
At the same time, the city will establish a measurement and monitoring system for carbon sinks, develop its carbon asset trading sector, and promote carbon neutrality citywide in order to drive the development of its forestry and grassland projects.
Baotou will advance the construction of its forest and grassland carbon sink pilot zones as well as its carbon sink pilot city project. This will be done by promoting the construction of State-owned forest farms in Jiuyuan district and Guyang county.
In terms of safeguarding the security of forest and grassland resources, the city will continue to crack down on the illegal hunting and trading of wild animals and plants. It will also implement forest and grassland fire prevention systems in order to prevent and control forest and grassland disasters.
