Spring has finally arrived in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province after a bitterly cold winter, and along with the warm weather comes seasonal delicacies that promise to tantalize the palate.
Among these delights is a popular snack called Qingbing that has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage item and has even made its way to markets as far as Hong Kong and Singapore.
Qingbing, or green sticky rice pancakes that usually come with sweet fillings, is made from glutinous rice mixed with pounded mugwort, which is an edible wild herb that can prevent insect bites.
