China's first port logistics data trading center was inaugurated in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, on March 7, solidifying the city's position as a trailblazer in the nation for leveraging the commercial potential of crucial data assets.

With a diverse portfolio of over 130 listed products, the center, which is part of the Ningbo Shipping Exchange, will prioritize services across eight key categories, encompassing international trade, bulk cargo shipping, port logistics credit, international container shipping, vessels, and ports.

At the core of these offerings is the establishment of a comprehensive repository for vital industry data. The center has aggregated a wide spectrum of international container shipping data, including container ship schedules, freight rates, shipping capacity, and information pertaining to international commodity trade and bulk commodity volume prices. Additionally, it has integrated data products developed by leading entities within the port logistics sector.

Looking to the future, Ningbo aims to build on its industrial prowess by expanding this initiative to create additional data exchange platforms across 13 pivotal sectors, such as textiles, apparel, finance, and insurance.
