Qin He, a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress and president of Jilin International Studies University, has put forward suggestions to enhance measures to promote mental health and prevent depression among adolescents.
Currently, the number of mental health issues among adolescents is on the rise, and it is showing a trend towards affecting younger age groups.
To address this, Qin He has proposed five recommendations to strengthen measures to promote mental health and prevent depression among adolescents.
Firstly, there is a need to strengthen education and provide proper guidance.
Secondly, a specialized investigation into the epidemiology of adolescent depression should be conducted. This investigation should leverage the province's advantages in education, health, and community resources in order to collectively engage in in-depth research on adolescent depression.
Thirdly, there is a call for intensified media publicity to raise awareness and encourage societal concern and care. Additionally, public service activities focusing on adolescent mental health and the dissemination of relevant scientific knowledge should be organized for parents.
Fourthly, regular medical check-ups should be incorporated into the healthcare system, emphasizing the combination of prevention and treatment.
Lastly, the government and relevant regulatory authorities should intensify their management of the internet in order to safeguard this group.
