The fourth session of the 17th Pingyao County People's Congress opened on March 6 in Pingyao county, North China's Shanxi province, with 224 deputies attending.
Feng Yuquan, head of the Pingyao county government, delivered the county government work report, which stated achievements made in 2023, new targets for the county's development in 2024, and government development.
In the report, Feng summarized Pingyao's socioeconomic development achievements in 2023 in terms of industrial transformation, urban-rural development, and people's well-being.
The county government's work report set new targets this year in 12 areas, including rural vitalization, industrial transformation and upgrading, integration of culture and tourism, urban and rural construction, ecological protection, and improvement of people's living standards.
Pingyao aims to achieve economic development targets such as a 5.5-percent increase in the gross domestic product, a 24-percent increase in fixed asset investment, a 5.5-percent increase in the added value of enterprises above designated size, an increase of over 5.5 percent in the total retail sales of consumer goods, and a 3.98-percent increase in general public budget revenue.
Deputies examined the reports on the overall budget revenue of Pingyao in 2023 and the draft budget for 2024. They also reviewed how the 2023 national economic and social development plan was implemented by the county government and its 2024 national economic and social development draft plan.
