The Shanxi delegation to the second session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) held a plenary session on March 6 to review the plan report and draft as well as budget report and drafts, during which it also opened up to domestic and foreign media outlets.
The seven NPC deputies – Tang Dengjie, Party secretary of the Shanxi province, Governor Jin Xiangjun and Executive Vice-governor Wu Wei, Hang Kan, director of the Yungang Research Institute, Li Lili, chief engineer of Shanxi International Energy Group's Water Investment Management Co, Xue Mingyao, mayor of Jincheng, and Wu Yi, chairman of Shanxi Transport Holding Group Co – were interviewed by 21 media outlets, including Xinhua News Agency, China Daily, Japan's Asahi Shimbun Co, and Reuters.

The reporters' questions focused on specific measures to promote high-quality development and transformation, coordinating energy security and green low-carbon transformation, leveraging Shanxi's comparative advantages in the cultural and tourism industries, creating a new inland hub for opening-up, promoting rural vitalization, improving the ecological environment, and establishing a market-oriented, law-based, and international business environment.
During the plenary session, the deputies also provided suggestions for Shanxi, focusing on strengthening fiscal policy regulation, revitalizing rural industries, building a new energy system, preserving traditional skills and crafts, improving rural elderly care services, and promoting the in-depth integration of rural culture and tourism.
