Jilin deputy focuses on new energy industry

Li Wenhui, a Jilin province deputy to the ongoing second session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) and the deputy director of the equipment department of Jilin Baishan Jidian Energy Development Co, is speaking up for the new energy industry.

"I pay close attention to the application and transformation of cutting-edge energy technologies," Li stated.

This year, he submitted a motion titled "Promoting the Revitalization of Northeast China, Accelerating the Construction of Integrated Wind, Solar, and Nuclear Power Energy Bases in Jilin Province". This motion aims to expedite energy conservation, emission reduction, and structural adjustments in coal-fired power generation. It will also promote the high-quality development of new energy, hydrogen energy, energy storage, and green transportation, thus continuously increasing the proportion of clean energy.

In recent years, Jilin province has seen accelerated development in its energy industry and has established a complete clean energy supply chain system. This is thanks to the construction of major energy projects such as "Three Gorges on Land" project. By the end of 2023, Jilin's installed new energy capacity had surpassed that of coal-fired power, making it the largest power source in the province.

As a "jack-of-all-trades" that is deeply involved in frontline production, Li is well-versed in the development of energy enterprises. In order to submit comprehensive and in-depth motions, he has made multiple visits to energy production enterprises both within and outside the region, conducted on-site investigations into the current state of the energy industry, and gathered data.
