Lantern festival at Colorful Guizhou City a hit among visitors

The 2024 Colorful Guizhou City Lantern Festival recently came to a successful close, drawing in a total of 160,000 visitors to the scenic area and generating revenue that exceeds 2 million yuan ($277,842.78). The event achieved significant social and economic benefits.

The scenic area is located in the Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The two-week-long Colorful Guizhou City Lantern Festival attracted attention by organizing a dazzling array of lanterns, a Spring Festival market, grand Tang Dynasty (618-907) parades, traditional folk performances, fireworks, and immersive theatrical productions.

"On the busiest day, the actual number of visitors approached 30,000," stated He Xu, deputy general manager of Guizhou Colorful City Commercial Operations Ltd.

The festival's ticket sales alone reached 1.3 million yuan, while also driving over 1 million yuan in sales for local businesses within the scenic area.

"Throughout the lantern festival event, whether in terms of procedural reporting, traffic management, safety measures, fire protection, or medical emergencies, we received comprehensive support from the Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone," He said.

In order to provide a comfortable tourism environment for locals and visitors, the scenic area is steadily advancing the renovations and upgrades of its 1958 Cultural and Creative Park as well as Jieqing Street.
