GaoLiang cuisine is a time-honored local delicacy that can be traced back over 1900 years to the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han dynasty (202 BC-8 AD).

Originating from GaoLiang county in Maoming, Guangdong province, it integrates the distinct characteristics of three major culinary styles: Cantonese, Hakka, and Chaoshan cuisines. Known for its authenticity and freshness, it is acclaimed as Guangdong's fourth major culinary style.

From the second day of the Chinese New Year to the end of the lunar second month, GaoLiang cuisine reaches its peak during Maoming's annual festivities, becoming the traditional dish for Maoming villagers to entertain family, friends, and guests.

Maoming has demonstrated its commitment to developing the GaoLiang cuisine brand by organizing events such as the GaoLiang Cuisine Master and GaoLiang Chef events and promoting 10 must-try GaoLiang dishes. These activities showcase Maoming's "trustworthy" agricultural products, aiming to enhance the visibility and market acceptance of high-quality local agricultural products, helping farmers increase their income.
