Behold this Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) clay sculpture of the seated Buddha with a coiled topknot. His round face features delicate eyebrows, slightly-closed eyes and a gently smiling expression, with elongated earlobes. Clad in a flowing kasaya, the Buddha is adorned with red paints, despite many of them having faded over time. Collection: China Museum for Fujian-Taiwan Kinship.
