Nobel Prize laureate Abdulrazak Gurnah will make his inaugural visit to China in early March, during which he will participate in a series of literary and cultural exchange events spanning three cities, including Ningbo.

The esteemed British novelist will grace Yinzhou Book City, located in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, with his presence on March 9, marking the second leg of his journey in China, as announced by the Ningbo branch of Xinhua Bookstore.

Abdulrazak Gurnah was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2021 for his unwavering and deeply compassionate exploration of the impact of colonialism and the struggles faced by refugees caught between diverse cultures and continents.

Born in 1948 on the East African coast of Zanzibar, Tanzania, Gurnah migrated to the United Kingdom in the 1960s to pursue his education. He ultimately earned a doctoral degree from the University of Kent and has since remained a faculty member. His academic pursuits center around postcolonial writing and discussions related to colonialism, particularly those associated with Africa, the Caribbean, and India. Notable among his works are Paradise, By the Sea, and Afterlives.
