Shanxi's investment promotion to focus on 5 aspects

On Feb 22, the 2024 Shanxi Province Investment Promotion Exchange and Discussion Conference was held in Taiyuan, summarizing the investment promotion work in the province in 2023, and deploying key tasks for 2024.

In 2023, the province secured 3,108 contracted investment projects with a total investment of 1.58 trillion yuan ($219.54 billion). Among these, 2,641 have commenced construction, achieving a construction commencement rate of 85 percent, with a total investment of 584.06 billion yuan.

Of all the newly contracted projects, 1,360 were valued at over 100 million yuan, accounting for 43.8 percent of the total. Additionally, of all the projects, 352 were valued at over 1 billion yuan and 75 projects valued at over 5 billion yuan.

The conference stressed the importance of focusing on "five emphasized aspects."

First, there should be a greater emphasis on liberating ideology, promoting a significant enhancement in investment promotion through the application of new development concepts. Second, a stronger emphasis on top-level design is required to further expand the direction of progress. Third, greater attention should be paid to guaranteeing the necessary elements in order to provide robust support for investment promotion. Fourth, greater focus should be given to innovative methods and approaches in order to enhance the quality and effectiveness of work. Finally, there should be an increased emphasis on optimizing the environment to foster a fertile ground for entrepreneurship and business development.
