During the 2024 Spring Festival holiday, Guilin, Guangxi, welcomed approximately 7.51 million domestic and international tourists, marking a 74.9 percent year-on-year increase. The tourism revenue reached 8.36 billion yuan ($116.18 million), reflecting a 111.27 percent year-on-year growth.
Among them, approximately 2.21 million visitors stayed overnight, while about 5.31 million engaged in day trips.
Guilin's iconic scenic spots, such as Elephant Trunk Hill, Yangshuo West Street, and the Longji Rice Terraces, became popular tourist destinations, marking a prosperous start for Guilin's tourism market.
During the Spring Festival, rural tourism, leisure travel, gourmet shopping tours, and red tourism became hot trends, with family-oriented, group-oriented short trips and self-driving tours being the primary modes of travel. New formats such as outdoor sports, study tours, and tourist accommodations have gained significant popularity, especially in the self-driving tour market.
Guilin's various regions and scenic areas organized colorful and festive tourism activities centered around Chinese New Year customs, including flower appreciation, lantern exhibitions, park visits, and temple fairs.
The Lijiang River, Yulong River, and Yangshuo West Street saw a surge in visitor numbers. The Lijiang River scenic area has received approximately 197,788 visitors, the Yulong River scenic area around 151,203 visitors, and the live performance "Impression of Liu Sanjie" hosted around 52,350 visitors.
