A Spring Festival celebration was held in Regensburg, Germany on Feb 10 (local time), aiming to help the residents of the city, which is Qingdao's sister city, gain a better understanding of Spring Festival culture, learn more about Qingdao, and expand Qingdao's influence in German sister cities.
Attendees learned how to write the Chinese character fu using calligraphy, expressed their hopes for the Year of the Dragon, and wished the people of Qingdao a happy Chinese New Year in Chinese.
They also watched a short video about Spring Festival, learning about the traditional customs of the festival such as worshiping the Kitchen God, buying Spring Festival goods, writing Spring Festival couplets, and giving out red envelopes.
In addition, the guests experienced the unique charm of Qingdao as a modern international metropolis via a short video showcasing the cityscape.
They also received Qingdao postcards and stamps featuring the city's stunning scenery.
Qingdao will continue to plan culture-themed sister city exchange activities, aiming to present a genuine, comprehensive portrayal of Qingdao to people in sister cities.
