SND receives 1m tourists during Spring Festival holiday

The main attractions and business districts in Suzhou New District, Jiangsu province, received about 1.03 million tourists during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday.

The local bureau of culture, sports, and tourism rolled out "Spring Festival in SND" activities and instructed scenic spots, tourism villages, and business districts to organize celebrations for the annual festival.

Suzhou Amusement Land, in cooperation with the leading Chinese video community for younger generations, Bilibili, arranged a lantern show themed on the popular cartoon Heaven Official's Blessing, welcoming 131,000 visitors during the holiday.

Baimajian Longchi scenic area offered dances, pingtan (storytelling and singing in the Suzhou dialect), and bazaars, China Embroidery Art Museum invited children and their parents to try embroidery, and Shushan village created a strong festive atmosphere with intangible cultural heritage-themed fairs and folk art shows.

With multiple rated attractions and rural scenic spots, picturesque SND is a popular choice for tourists coming from Shanghai, as well as Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces. During the holiday, 52 percent of the visitors came from other cities.
